Question 3 (b)
Tick (√) mark the correct answer in each of the following:
(b) Water from the undigested food is absorbed mainly in the
(i) stomach (ii) food pipe (iii) small intestine (iv) large intestine
The answer is (iv).
Water from the undigested food is absorbed mainly in the large intestine. The large intestine is wider and shorter than the small intestine. The main function of the large intestine is to absorb water and salts from the undigested food. The remaining waste materials pass into the rectum and form the faecal matter which is then ejected from the body through the anus.
