Bacteria do not have chloroplast but some bacteria are photoautorophic in nature and perform photosynthesis. Which part of bacterial cell perform this?

Solution

Yes, it is correct that bacteria do not have chloroplasts (photosynthesizing cell organelle) as they are prokaryotic organisms. Still some of them can perform photosynthesis to prepare their food by themselves. Their photosynthetic pigments are not present in chloroplast, instead on extensions of their plasma membrane called chromatophores. Example of bacteria performing photosynthesis is cyanobacteria.
