Open in App
Solution

Coccus is a sphere shaped bacteria. This bacterium have characteristics that will help them be identified. When they are in pairs, they are called diplococci. When the bacterium are in chains or rows of cells, they are streptococci. Staphylococci are found in clusters of cells that are grape cluster shaped. When there are groups of eight or more cells, these are sarcinae and groups of four in the shape of a square are tetrads. The shapes are formed during the reproduction of the bacteria.
sarcinae
The cocci are arranged in a cuboidal manner, as the cells are formed by regular cell divisions in three planes. Cocci that divide in three planes and remain in groups cube like groups of eight.
