Potassium hydroxide (KOH):

  1. Potassium oxide is an ionic compound.
  2. The potassium has a charge of +1.
  3. Potassium oxide reacts with water to produce Potassium hydroxide.

Balanced chemical equation:

  1. To balance the equation we place a coefficient of 2 in front of the Potassium hydroxide.
  2. The equation is balanced by adding two moles KOH on RHS.
  3. K2O(s)+H2O(l)2KOH(aq).
