Solution

The correct option is A 1 - Explant, 2 - Callus, 3 - Organogenesis, 4 - Plant tissue culture
The labelled parts 1 and 2 are explant and callus respectively. 3 represents organogenesis and 4 represents the technique of Plant tissue culture. Plant tissue culture is in-vitro cultivation of the plant parts, cells, tissues, organs in the culture medium under aseptic conditions. And these parts of the plant like root, stem, leaves and young inflorescence can be used to regenerate an entire plant. These smaller plant parts that grow into new plants are termed explants. These explants are put on nutrient medium containing growth hormones that causes the formation of an undifferentiated mass of cells called callus. The callus is then cultured in media containing differing concentrations of auxins and cytokinins, and undergoes differentiation and formation of the roots and shoots or somatic embryos from which the whole plant can be subsequently produced. This process is called organogenesis.
