Cost price of the article $=Rs.1215$

Therefore,

Total cost price of the article $=1215+35=Rs.1250$

Now according to the question-

$x=1250+16\%$ of $1250$

$x=1250+\frac{16}{100}\times 1250$

$\Rightarrow x=1250+200=1450$

Hence to gain $16\%$, he should sell the article for $Rs.1450$.
