Bats and whales are classified as mammals. Why?

Open in App
Solution

All mammals have certain characteristics which are common for every mammal. Mammals all are warm-blooded animals, they breathe air, have hair and moms gives birth to babies and feed their babies milk from mammary glands.
Whales are warm-blooded. Whales breathe air with the help of blowholes to breathe out. They come to the surface of the water so they can breathe. Whales even give birth to live baby whales which will get milk from their mom. So whales are considered mammals.
Bats are mammals because they give birth to live young bats, nurse their babies and they also have hair. This is why bats are classified into the taxonomic order Mammalia.
