Question

Between sodiumhydrogencarbonate and magnesium hydroxide which is a better antacid and why ?

Open in App
Solution

Magnesium hydroxide (Mg(OH)2) is a better antacid because bung insoluble it does not allow the pH to increase above neutrality. On the other hand, sodium hydrogen carbonate being soluble and its excess amount can make the stomach alkaline and trigger the production of even more acid.
