Biogas is produced by the conversion of biodegradable waste matter into compost in the absence of oxygen.
Biogas plants are used for the conversion of biodegradable waste matter into compost in the absence of oxygen by the process known as anaerobic digestion for the production of biogas. Anaerobic microorganisms digest the biomass in closed chambers or airtight chambers. Raw material like green waste, food waste, agricultural waste etc can be fed to these plants.
