Given: mA=5kg,mB=10kg,TA=573K,TB=223K,cA=1kJ/kgK,cB=0.4kJ/kgK

Let final temperature be Tf,

By energy balance,

mAcA[TATf]=mBcB[TfTB]

5×1[573Tf]=10×0.4[Tf223]

Tf=417.4K

Sgen=mAcAlnTfTA+mBcBlnTfTB

=5×1ln(417.4573)+10×0.4ln(417.4223)

=1.58+2.507=0.92kJ/K

Irreversibility, I=T0ΔS=(273+27)×0.92

=300×0.92

=276kJ
