Blood consists of two parts - a liquid part and a cellular part. Name these parts and briefly describe them.

  • Blood is a red coloured fluid that consist of two parts:
1. Plasma-a liquid part​
•Plasma is yellowish in colour.​
•Most of it is water (about 90%) and the remaining 10% consist of dissolved nutrients, proteins, waste products, and hormones.​

2. Corpuscles -The cellular part​
•The corpuscles or blood cells are of 3 types RBCs, WBCs, and Platelets.​
• RBC(erythrocytes) transports oxygen to the other parts of the body.​
• WBC(leukocytes) provides immunity to the body.​
• Platelets(thrombocytes) help in the clotting of blood.
