  3. Platelets or thrombocytes are responsible for blood coagulation.

Clotting in blood vessels:

  1. The formation of a blood clot inside the blood vessels is called thrombosis.
  2. The clot formed inside the blood vessels is known as a thrombus.
  3. The clotting of blood inside the blood vessels or thrombosis does not commonly occur.

Reasons:

  1. Presence of anticoagulants like heparin or antiprothrombins.
  2. Presence of procoagulants in an inactive form.
  3. Intact endothelium is present in blood vessels.
