Question

Blood flow in humans is known as double circulation. Why?

Open in App
Solution

* The blood circulation in our body is known as double circulation because the same amount of blood passes through the heart twice.

* The two circulations in our body are systemic circulation and pulamonary circulation.

* The pulmonary circulation forms a closed circuit between the heart and the lungs, while the systemic circulation supplies oxygenated blood to and returning deoxygenated blood from the tissues of the body.

* Deoxygenated blood from different parts of the body is collected by the veins and is transferred to the right atrium of the heart.

* The right ventricle pumps the deoxygenated blood to the lung through the pulmonary artery.

* Inside the lungs, gaseous exchanges occurs and the blood gets oxygenated from the lungs to the left atrium of the heart through the pulmonary vein.

* The left ventricle pumps the blood to different parts of the body through the aorta.
