Blood:

  1. The body fluid that is present in most animals and circulates throughout the body is called the blood.
  2. The blood has plasma and formed elements in it.
  3. Blood plays an inevitable role in transporting oxygen and nutrients to each part of the body.

River of Life:

  1. The formed elements found in blood are erythrocytes (RBCs), leucocytes (WBCs), and thrombocytes (platelets).
  2. The RBCs contain hemoglobin which acts as an oxygen-carrying molecule.
  3. Leucocytes play an important role in immunity.
  4. Thrombocytes are responsible for blood coagulation.
  5. Since the blood contains all the nutrients and oxygen needed for survival and the major functions that happen in the body.
  6. Hence the blood is called “The river of life”.
