Solution

Arteries:

  1. Arteries carry the oxygenated blood from heart to body parts.
  2. The walls of arteries are thick and elastic.
  3. They have narrow lumen.

Veins:

  1. Veins carry the deoxygenated blood from body parts to heart.
  2. The walls of veins are thin and less elastic.
  3. They have wide lumen.

Reasons for lower blood pressure in veins than in arteries.

  1. The tissues do not pump the blood like the heart.
  2. The blood pressure drops after the blood passes through the capillaries.
  3. Veins have larger lumen, reducing the force to allow blood flow at a lower pressure.
  4. Thus ,veins have a lower blood pressure than the arteries.
