  1. The boiling point is a function of the intermolecular force of attraction between the particles.
  2. The higher the force of attraction between the particles, the higher will be the boiling point.
  3. In the case of ethanol force of attraction is very less therefore boiling point of ethanol is much lower as compared to water i.e. 78oC. Whereas in the case of water, the intermolecular force of attraction is high, hence its boiling point is high. i.e. 100oC.
