Both carbon and silicon belong to group 14 in the periodic table. But the tendency to undergo catenation is more in carbon than in silicon.Explain.

Carbon and silicon belongs to 14th group showing 4 valence electron in its shell. They form 4 bonds. Carbon compounds are more stable as the size is low they form more strong covalent bonds than the other members of the group. That is why carbon shows more catenation than the other elements of 14th group.
