Solution

Wind pollinated flowers

Wind pollinated flowers are those that get pollinated by means of wind as the pollen grains are carried by wind.

Water pollinated flowers are those that get pollinated by means of water as the pollen grains are carried by water.

Absence of colour and nectar in such flowers
  • The properties of being colourful and production of nectar are found in flowers pollinated by insects.
  • It is because the colour of the flower attracts the insects towards it for pollination. In return for pollination, flowers provide nectar to those insects.
  • Wind and water pollinated flowers are not very colourful and do not produce nectar because these flowers do not have to return any favour to abiotic factors like water and wind.
