Bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) is also called as mad cow disease. The infected cow causes CJD in humans on consumption of the infected cow. Variant Creutzfeldt–Jakob disease (vCJD) is caused in humans because of the infectious agents in the form of prions. Prions are protein particles which fold and unfold at different conditions.
