Question

Activity :
Join three resistors of different values in series. Connect them with a battery, an ammeter and a plug key, You may use the resistors of values like 1 ohm, 2 ohm, 3 ohm etc., and a battery of 6 V for performing this Activity.
Plug the key. Note the ammeter reading.
Change the position of ammeter to anywhere in between the resistors. Note the ammeter reading each time.
Do you find any change in the value of current through the ammeter?

Q. What will be the observations of this experiment?

Solution

Dear Student ,
Net resistance = R = 1+2+3 = 6 ohm , so the current through the circuit is , I = 6/6 = 1 A .
This 1 A is also the reading of the ammeter .
Now when the position of the ammeter is shifted , the reading of the ammeter remains the same .
The electric current remains the same through out the circuit in series combination .
