Q. Explain the above lines. Are hydrocarbons formed by replacement of parent organic ?

Dear student,
Hydrocarbons themselves are considered as parent organic compound. Hydracarbon are derived from petroleum. All other organic compund, be it alcohol, ester , aldehyde, everything is derived from hydracarbon.
