Most of the digestion occurs in the small intestine. Small intestine is the part of the alimentary canal where most of the chemical digestion occurs. It contains most of the enzymes (lipase, protease etc.) that digest the carbohydrates, fats and proteins. Only some protein digestion takes place in stomach by the action of enzyme pepsin.
