Question

Q. It is easier to start a car engine on a hot day than on a cold day. This is because the internal resistance of the car battery

  2. Increases with rise in temperature
  3. Decreases with a fall in temperature
  4. Does not change with a change in temperature

Solution

Dear student,
The main reason is, As the temperature is decreased, the voltage of the car battery decreases and its internal resistance increases. This means the battery will supply less current. But in a warm day temperature is increased so the voltage of the car increases and hence internal resistance decreases.
