Dear student,
Cuticular transpiration occurs through the cuticle (waxy layer of cutin surrounding the epidermis of leaves and other parts of plants) where there is no stomata which closes at night. There is no mechanism for closure of cuticle and evaporation takes place at all temperature, therefore cuticular transpiration can occur day and night.
Cuticle layer is thick in xerophytic plants. Cuticle layer is waxy and thus repels water but has permeability to water vapour and thus transpiration takes place.
