Solution

Colostrum is the first milk produced by the mammary glands of the mother after the delivery of the child. It contains antibodies which are transferred from mother to the child and provide natural passive immunity. The child cannot produce the antibodies in its initial stages of life. Hence immunity is provided to the child by the mother till its immune system develops. Hence breast feeding during initial period of infant growth is necessary to develop immunity of new born babies.
