Composite or compound fruits are formed when the entire inflorescence develop into fruits.
It is mainly of two types:-
Sorosis:- Develops from the spike or spadix inflorescence. The examples are pineapple, jackfruit and mulberry.
Synconus:- Develops from the hypanthodium inflorescence. The example is Ficus carica (banyan).
