Briefly discuss the major causes of environmental pollution.
Major causes of Environmental Pollution are as follows
(i) Air Pollution - Air pollution is the result of a combination of factors which lowers air quality and responsible for creating a hole in the ozone layers leading to dangers to human life. It is mainly due to carbon monoxide emitted by automobiles smoke and other chemicals from manufacturing plants pollute the air.
(ii) Water Pollution - Business enterprises have been dumping waste and chemicals into rivers, streams and lakes causing water pollution which has posed a serious threat to aquatic and human life.
(iii) Land Pollution - Dumping of toxic wastes, on land causes land pollution. This damages the quality of land, making it unit for agriculture or plantation.
(vi) Noise Pollution - Noise caused by the sound produced by machines in factories and moving vehicles beyond the specific decibel causing discomfort and serious health hazards.
