Role of MNREGA in eliminating poverty:
  • In districts where MNREGA is implemented, any adult member who is looking for work and willing to do unskilled manual work is provided with guaranteed 100 days of employment in a year.
  • The people engaged in work under MNREGA are paid at par with minimum wages and not below it. It also provides for equal pay for equal work.
  • The type of activities taken up under MNREGA helps further rural development by entailing work like water conservation and water harvesting, drought proofing, renovation of traditional water bodies and more.
