Briefly explain: coal tar and coal gas.

Coal tar: Coal tar is a dark black coloured liquid. Mostly different types of organic compounds are present in it. In the earlier times, it was used in the preparation of organic compounds like explosives, dyes, artificial fibres, drugs, pesticides. In the modern times, organic substances are obtained from petroleum products instead of coal tar.
Coal gas: Mostly carbon monoxide and some other gaseous hydrocarbon compounds are present in coal gas. This mixture of gases is combustible and so it is used as a fuel.
