Jyotiba Phule opposed the domination of the Brahmanas and the terrible condition of the Dalits in his book ‘Gulamgiri’. He believed that English education should be spread among the Dalits as it would help them safeguard their rights.
Jyotiba Phule founded the 'Satya Shodhak Samaj’ in 1873 to protect the rights of the Shudras. ‘Dinamitra’ was the mouthpiece of this Samaj.
Jyotiba Phule worked for women’s upliftment along with his wife Savitribai Phue. He opened the first girls’ school in India. He also favoured widow remarriage
