Briefly explain the following principles of management.
(i) Science, not Rule of Thumb
(ii) Harmony, not Discord
(iii) Cooperation, not Individualism
(i) Science, not Rule of Thumb: Instead of rule of thumb, scientifically studied methods should be used in organisations to avoid errors and delays. Standardised and guaranteed approaches should be considered that increase the efficiency in operations.
(ii) Harmony, not Discord: Harmony, not Discord means that workers and management should work in harmony with mutual cooperation and coordination without being overburdened with work by maintaining a cordial relationship with each other and by building team spirit in an organisation.
(iii) Cooperation, not Individualism: Cooperation is an action of working together and wherein employees and management should cooperate with each other that could lead to high morale and team spirit. As soldiering lead to underwork and individualism, factories would endure excessive costs and wastage of resources.
