Diabetes insipidus is a rare condition that is caused when there is a low secretion of antidiuretic hormone (ADH) or vasopressin (stored in the pituitary gland).
Patients with this disease have large amounts of dilute (clear) urine due to uncontrolled urine volume.
Most of the cases are due to insufficiency of ADH or when the kidneys do not respond appropriately to ADH.
