  3. No conscious thinking or knowledge of the automatic response is required for reflex action.
  4. The reflex arc is the neurological circuitry that controls reflexes and responds to impulses before they reach the brain.

Kinds of reflex arcs:

  1. Autonomic Reflex Arc: It influences the operation of internal organs.
  2. Somatic Reflex Arc: It influences muscle function.

Examples:

  1. Closing our eyes when strong light strikes us.
  2. Withdrawing hands or legs abruptly when they come into contact with something hot or pricking.
