Solution

Nuclear radiation

  1. Nuclear radiations are also called ionizing radiations. This is basically the energy released in the form of charged particles or electromagnetic waves.
  2. Nuclear radiation has two main sources that are cosmic radiation and nuclear waste.

Cosmic radiation

  1. These are the radiations that come from the sun that can penetrate into the earth's atmosphere and be absorbed by humans.
  2. These radiations are very harmful to living organisms.

Nuclear waste

  1. If the activity of nuclear fuel decreases, the fuel gets rejected and is not used in radioactivity, this rejected fuel is termed nuclear waste.
  2. When these nuclear wastes are thrown in open areas, they can contaminate water and soil which will indirectly affect the living organisms.
