Briefly explain the working principle of lenses.

Lenses works on the principle of refraction.
Refraction happens when light rays travel through media of varying optical densities. The emergent ray is bent and this bending is exploited in the construction of lenses. Lenses either converge or diverge light depending on the type of lens.
