Briefly mention the conferences held to set up the UNO.

The UN charter finally emerged as a result of three major wartime conferences, which were held in: Dumbarton Oaks in Washington DC, Yalta, Aresort city in Ukraine and San Francisco.

The First major step towards the formulation of the United Nations was taken in October 1944, at the Dumbarton Oaks Conference wherein they agreed on the general purpose, structures and functions of a new world organisation- the UNO.
