Solution

The function of roots is to absorb water and minerals for plant growth. The roots of hydrophytes (water plants) are poorly developed (reduced) as they are in direct contact with water. The stems in floating plants are buoyant and not at all rigid. Leaves are thick and waxy. Stomata are present only on the upper surface of the leaves and not at the lower surface as it is in direct contact with water.
