The Man He Killed. This poem is about the folly of war.
The narrator killed an enemy in the battle field. It the
narrator and the other man had met earlier, they would
have sat in an ancient inn and had drunk wine or beer
happily. Instead ranged as infantry, they considered
each as their foe and shot at each other. They fought
to the commands of their superiors. War is strange and
curious because it is fought between innocent soldiers
who join the army as they are jobless.
