Solution

Dear Student,

Influenza epidemic during colonial India did not strike everyone equally. The richer sections of society were not very affected as they lived in large houses where they could isolate themselves from the rest of society. Their houses and workplaces also has good sanitization measures which prevented the spread of the epidemic. It was the poorer sections of society who were disproportionately affected. They lived in congested areas where it was impossible to practice social distancing. As a result, the epidemic spread rapidly in those areas.

Regards.
