By bending a wire, a square is made whose area is x sq. units. If a circle is made from same wire, what will be its area? Which of the two is greater in area?

Area of the square = x sq units
(side)2 = x
side = x

Perimeter of the square =Circumference of the circle
4 × side = 2π × radius
4x = 2π×radiusradius = 4x2π= 2xπ

Now, area of the circle = πradius2 =π2xπ2 = 4x×722 = 1411x

Area of the circle is greater than that of the square.
