Supporter of Combustion

  • Combustion is a process where a substance burns in presence of oxygen, giving off heat and light.
  • Oxygen supports combustion hence it is called a supporter of combustion.
  • Example: Combustion of coal takes place in the presence of oxygen.

Ignition temperature

  • It means that a substance is at the lowest temperature at which it spontaneously ignites in a normal atmosphere without an external source of ignition.
