For combustion the following conditions are necessary,

  • Presence of combustible substance:

Combustion is only possible if the substance is combustible which means the substance should burn.

examples are wood, paper, kerosene oil, match stick, etc.

  • Presence of supporter of combustion:

An adequate amount of supporters is required.

example oxygen is necessary for combustion.

  • Attainment of ignition temperature:

After a minimum temperature, the substance starts burning.The temperature at which a substance starts burning is called ignition temperature

Alcohol, petrol, and LPG can catch fire easily.
