It was the result of the Partition of Bengal in 1905, which later led to the Swadeshi and boycott movement wherein people:

a. Large scale protests by the people, there were picketing up of shops.
b. Burning of foreign cloth.
c. The use of khadi was made a patriotic duty.
d. Women were urged to throw away their silks and glass bangles and wear simple shell bangles.
e. Khadi was promoted , It encouraged the use of Swadeshi goods, boost was given to indigenous industries
