In displacement reaction displacement of less reactive element gets displaced by the more reactive element.

Iron reacts with copper sulphate to produce copper and ferrous sulphate.

• ${\mathrm{AgNO}}_3+\mathrm{Cu}\to {\mathrm{CuNO}}_3+\mathrm{Ag}$

When copper turnings are added to silver nitrate solution blue coloured solution is formed it is because copper reduces silver nitrate from the solution to form silver.
