When benzene reacts with sulphuric acid or sulphur trioxide then it forms benzene sulphonic acid as a product. The reaction can be given as follow:
$C_{6} H_{6} + H_{2} S O_{4} \to C_{6} H_{5} S O_{3} H + H_{2} O$
Or
$C_{6} H_{6} + S O_{3} H \to C_{6} H_{5} S O_{3} H + H_{2} O$
Thus the product X is benzene sulphonic acid
And when X is passed through steam it forms benzene again.
