Solution

  • c) A more reactive metal can displace a less reactive metal from its salt in an aqueous solution. Copper is less reactive than zinc. Therefore, it cannot displace zinc from the solution.
  • Cu(s)+ZnSO4(aq) No reaction
  • Electrochemical series
  • Electrochemical series also sometimes referred to as activity series is a list that describes the arrangement of elements in order of their increasing electrode potential values.
  • It is also known as the reactivity series or activity series.
  • It is the arrangement of the metal in the increasing order of their reactivity.

Here, Cu is placed below the zinc, which means the copper is less reactive than zinc. Therefore, it cannot displace zinc from the solution.
