The expression for the effective nuclear charge Zeff is
Zeff=Z−σ
Here, Z is the nuclear charge and σ is the shielding constant.
For fluoride ion, Z=9 and σ=0.85×2+0.35×7=4.15
Hence, Z∗=Z−σ=9−4.15=4.85
