Question

Calculate the change in momentum of a car of mass 1000 Kg when it's speed increases from 36 Km/h to 108 Km/h uniformly?

Open in App
Solution

Given that,

Mass m=1000kg

Speed v1=36km/h=10m/s

Speed v2=108km/h=30m/s

We know that,

The change in momentum

ΔP=m(Δv)

ΔP=m×(v2v1)

ΔP=1000×(3010)

ΔP=2×104kgm/s

Hence, the change in momentum is 2×104kgm/s
