Question

Calculate the effort needed when load = 800 N, load arm = 0.8 m and effort arm = 4.0 m

Open in App
Solution

Step 1, Given data

Load = 800 N

Load arm = 0.8 m

Effort arm = 4 m

Step 2, Finding the effort needed

From the principle of the lever

We know,

Effort×Effortarm=Load×Loadarm

Putting all the values

Effort×4m=800N×0.8m

After solving

Effort=160N

Hence the effort needed is 160 N.
