Question

Calculate the effort needed when load arm = 50 m, effort arm = 125 m and load = 100 kg wt

Open in App
Solution

Step 1, Given data

Load = 100 kg = 1000 N

Load arm = 50 m

Effort arm = 125 m

Step 2, Finding the effort needed

From the principle of the lever

We know,

Effort×Effortarm=Load×Loadarm

Putting all the values

Effort×125m=1000N×50m

After solving

Effort=400N=40kgwt

Hence the effort needed is 40 kg wt.
